THREE STEPS FOR PERSONALIZING YOUR BOOK
It’s time to put the “you” into your Battle Book!
Your Battle Book should be a comfortable place to meet with God. You built your Battle Book (or someone fit you to one by gifting it to you), so there are colored pages for dividers in all patterns and color schemes. I’m so amazed watching everyone put colors together. I love your creativity! Some of you had trouble picking out what you wanted but you finally got there. I haven’t found any stragglers at my house, so far.
So, three steps for personalizing:
- As you find pages or cards that have memorable or touching things to them, punch holes in them to fit your book. Some things can slide into the back side of the plastic page dividers in the first section. I have pictures of children I’ve sponsored in my Children tab, so I can see a face when I’m praying for them.
Also, the back of your Battle Book (opposite the front cover) has another space to slide in something meaningful.
- Two words – washi tape. You experienced it if you were at a build. It’s inexpensive and available at crafts stores. You can decorate the plastic pages, the pocket page(s), the outside of the book and the tabs in other sections. There are all themes of washi tape and many sparkly colors. Use some glue if any of those don’t seem to stick as well as they should.
I gave you small clothes pins with washi tape on them. I applied the washi tape and used the sharp edge of scissors to cut it off on the edges. I then applied Modge Podge to both sides to help keep it stuck down.
- You can easily change any of the colored pages in the first section because they slide out. The local craft stores have individual papers for sell in the scrapbooking area. Be careful, there are so many pretty pages.
Ideas for replacing papers:
- Holiday papers – available individually at craft stores
- Seasonal papers – pick a few colors for each season and find paper to match
You can change out the second section dividers but it will be a little more effort. We used cardstock in that area, so you can buy individual cardstock just the same as above. But we glued things to them, so you will need to get another set of tabs to glue to them or you can buy individual sticky tabs. I’ve used these some in some of the Battle Book build parties. See my Amazon shop to get these tabs.
Another option in this area, is to watch for Battle Book parties on the website calendar and let me know that you would like to drop in and recolor your book, tabs and/or pages. We can also set up a time if you want.
Let me know in the Comments how you have personalized your book and I’ll pass those along in a future post.
Please send any questions that you may have. I’ll try to get an answer to you. I’ll post a few that may help others in a future post.
See you in the prayer pages.
